Descendants of William Gordon, born ca 1815 in VA
The farthest that I have my Gordon's is to my gggrandfather William Gordon. The "only" reference to him is found in the Braxton Cty. WV records of 1860. He is listed as being 45 years old and has seven children. His wife's name is listed as Mary Ann. It shows his birth of course as Virginia and it would have been circa 1815. One interesting factor is that with he and Mary Ann was an older lady listed who had with her daughters and grandchildren. Without looking at my records(which I will when I have time) her last name is listed as Marona. Does that ring any bells?
It's my belief, do to some other info that I have, that since I have found no more recent records than this, but I have of my greatgrandfather and his family, some of his brothers and sisters, all living in Calhoun Cty.WV, which joins Braxton Cty. and I have even found Mary Ann in the 1900 census of this county, still with daughters with her and grandchildren, that there is a good possibility he was killed in the Civil War. I have not been able to confirm this. I am still working on it.
