Descendants of John Gordon

Married           Abt 1810 in South Carolina to a Jane Virden (Virdin). 

John and Jane left South Carolina with Jane’s brother, James Virden.  They traveled to Kentucky and stayed for a few years before going on into Illinois.  They traveled to IL between 1821 and 1823.  On Abraham’s U.S. Federal Census in 1880, Abraham indicates that both his mother and father are from South Carolina.

In Abraham Gordon’s obituary, it states that when Abraham was a young boy he moved from Kentucky to Shelby County, IL.  Abraham and Malinda’s oldest son is George Gordon.  There doesn’t seem to be any George’s on Malinda’s side of the family nor is there any on Abraham’s mother’s side, Jane.  I am thinking somehow this name is coming from Abraham’s grandfather but unable to prove at this time.  Abraham did not have any brothers named George that I can find either.
