Descendants of Peter John Gordon, was born in Ireland in about 1818
I have been researching my family history since December 2008 when I joined Ancestry.com. I started on the Gordon family and have had a hard time acquiring documentation for my research. This clan seems to be particularly elusive when it comes to paperwork. My brother agreed to complete a DNA test with the hope of making additional connections. As a result of the DNA test, I believe my Gordon ancestors emigrated from Scotland to Ireland and then to the United States. My great3-grandfather, Peter John Gordon, was born in Ireland in about 1818. After immigrating to the U.S. and settling in New York City, New York, he married Mary Markey in 1846; who was also born in Ireland. I am descended from their son, John Joseph Gordon. The descendants of Peter and Mary Gordon stayed in New York; my father was born there and I have family there to this day.
