Charles Gordon had the following children:
i. CHARLES2 GORDON was born in 1787 in Clare, Ireland. He died on 06 May 1864 in Bogmount, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland.

2. ii. WILLIAM GORDON was born about 1791 in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. He died on 15 Sep 1877 in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. He married ANNE NANCY (HAIRE) (HEHIR) about 1838 in Leadmore, Clare, Ireland. She was born about 1816 in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. She died on 26 Dec 1875 in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland.

iii. DANIEL GORDON was born in 1807. He died on 19 Feb 1854 in Leadmore East, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. He married ANNE SCALES. She was born about 1801. She died in 1876.

Generation 2
2. WILLIAM2 GORDON (Charles1) was born about 1791 in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland.

Notes for William Gordon:
Griffith's Valuation for 1855 (a survey of land occupation) shows the name William Gordon, Leadmore, East, Parish of Kilrush, Union of Kilrush. The date of birth is questionable. LDS records show abt. 1812 to be the date of birth. The abt. 1791 date was obtained from a friend of the family in Leadmore, Kilrush, Ireland and is believed to be more correct. This same source lists the date of death to be September 15, 1877 (age 86) and William was a widower at the time. It is believed that William's father's name was Charles Gordon.
Old age and infirmity which he had for 6 weeks was recorded as the cause of death. John Gordon registered the death.
Notes for Anne Nancy (Haire) (Hehir):
Griffith's Valuation for 1855 (a survey of land occupation) shows Honoria Hare, Townland of Kilrush, Town of Kilrush, Moore St., Parish of Kilrush, Union of Kilrush. A distant cousin inLeadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland provided the date of death to be December 26, 1875 and states that she was married at the time. This same source states that the name is Anne (Nancy) Gordon. Information received shows that she was the wife of a farmer and that she was 75. This makes the date of birth questionable as if she was 75 when she died then she would have been born 1n 1800.
The 1800 date would have made her 42 years old when John was born. Old age and infirmity which she had for 7 days was recorded as the cause of death. John Gordon registered the death.
William Gordon and Anne Nancy (Haire) (Hehir) had the following child:
3. i. JOHN3 GORDON was born on 22 May 1842 in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. He died on 13 Jul 1925 in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland. He married MARIA PILKINGTON about 1878 in Leadmore, Clare, Ireland, daughter of Thomas Pilkington and Mary Della Hogan. She was born in 1853 in Ennis County, Ireland. She died on 26 Nov 1929 in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland.

Generation 3
3. JOHN3 GORDON (William2, Charles1) was born on 22 May 1842 in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland.

Notes for John Gordon:
It is believed that John was an only child. There is a question as to the year of John's year of birth. LDS shows the year of birth to be about 1838. I (Philip Gordon) have a letter from Maria Gordon stating that John died on Monday morning at a quarter to five. The letter is dated July 14 or 16, 1925. The letter also states that John was 84 years old which would make the year of birth to be 1841. The 1901 Census of Clare-Kilrush Urban DED, Leadmore East 103/25 shows John to be 56 years old which would make the date of birth 1845. The 1911 Census of Ireland, which was taken on 4/2/1911 shows John to be 69 years old, which would make the year of birth to be 1841 or 1842. A distant cousin in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland states that John was born abt. 1841 and that he was 84 years old at the time of death and married at the time. I believe that the correct year of birth is actually 1841. The 1901 census of Ireland also included a census of houses & buildings as well as out buildings. This census shows that the house was in Leadmore East, Kilrush Parish. The road or street is not shown but the house was described as house #3, the walls of the house were made of either stone, brick or concrete, the roof was made of either thatch, wood or other perishable material, there were either 2, 3, or 4 rooms in the house, of which 3 rooms were occupied and the total number of persons in the family was 8. The census of the out offices and farm structures shows that the farm had 1 stable and 1 cow house. Additional information received shows the house to be located on Fahy's road.
The Ejectment Books of County Clare 1816-1835 show the name of Charles Gordon, John Gordon & William Gordon with the location of the land as farm and lands of Leadmore, Bogmount. The plaintiff is shown as Crofton M. Vandeleur, the year is 1834. Parish as Kilrush and the Barony as Moyarta. These Ejectment books contain details of cases brought against tenants by their landlords for non payment of rents and other causes often resulting in eviction. The name of Charles Gordon is interesting because it is believed that Charles was the father of William and the Grandfather of John, but further proof is lacking.
The cause of death is recorded as senile decay. Marie Gordon signed the register with an x.

He was bad then on Saturday and all Sat. night and Sunday and Sunday night. So he passed way in Monday morning. I miss him so much. I cannot stop crying. He often longed to get a letter from you or Will. He was 84 years had a very larage funeral. The Canon was very good. He received Holy Communion the years had a very larage funeral. The Canon was very good. He received Holy Communion the Thursday before and remained sitting on the chair. He also came on Sunday afternoon and came
again at half past eleven on Sunday night and remained over an hour with us. He also came on Monday brought a beautiful wreath of flowers the coffin was a good one and covered with flowers.
He had a very large funeral. The canon made all his congregation attend the funeral. He sent them all ??? account. The night of the wake half had to stay at Careys couldnt get in untill some went away. The neighbours paid great respect at the funeral. The Canon was surprised they being so good. How they carried the coffin he felt very lonely to die. He used like to eat his supper with Tomie every evening. He is a great loss to me. I hope he is better off. Write soon, Your loving Mother
Notes for Maria Pilkington:
There is some question as to whether the first name is Maria, Marie or Mary. Notes from Jayne Myers state that she was from Kilmaley, County Clare, Ireland. The 1901 census of Clare, Ireland shows Maria to be 48 years of age which would make the year of birth to be 1853. LDS records show birth abt 1835. It is believed that the LDS record should have shown 1853. The 1911 census of Ireland, which was taken on April 2, 1911 shows Maria to be 60 years of age which would make the year of birth to be 1851. A distant cousin in Leadmore, Kilrush, Clare, Ireland states that Maria was born abt. 1852/1853 and died November 26, 1929 and that she was a widow at the time of death at age 77.
It is believed that the Pilkington family was from Kilmaley, Co., Ireland.
Maria died of heart failure and her death was regisgtered by daughter-in-law Anne Gordon.
John Gordon and Maria Pilkington had the following children:
i. WILLIAM4 GORDON SR. was born on 06 May 1879 in Leadmore, Kilrush, Co. Clare, Ireland. He died on 08 Jun 1957 in Scipio Center, Cayuga Co., N.Y.. He married ETHEL M. I. TREVEAL on 27 Sep 1904 in Methodist parsonage, 61 Wall St. Auburn, N. Y. by Rev. H. C. Moyer, daughter of Richard Treveal and Mary Isabella Matthews. She was born on 13 Sep 1883 in Grace Bank, Falmouth, Truro, Cornwall, England. She died on 10 May 1964 in Auburn, Cayuga Co., N.Y..
Notes for William Gordon Sr.:
The 1905 New York census shows that Daniel Gordon, brother of William, was living in East Syracuse, New York and was employed as a railroad fireman. The ships manifest for Daniel's immigration to America shows that Daniel Gordon arrived at Ellis Island, New York on May 26, 1904 and he went to live with his brother William in East Syracuse, New York. I, Philip Gordon, remember that I had heard that William Gordon worked on the New York Central railroad when he (William) came to this country, but I never was able to confirmn this. I now beleive that William did actually work for the New York Central railroad and his brother probably went to live with him in East Syracuse where the railroad yards are to this day. An interesting story relating to this is that I once asked my father how William met my Grandmother Ethel and he told me that William was a fireman on the New York Central railroad and when the train went by my grandmothers house in Auburn, she used to wave to him, so now this also makes sense.
The 1920 United States Census shows the Gordon family to be residents of the town of Owasco, Cayuga County, New York. The 1925 New York State Census
shows the Gordon family to be residents of the Town of Scipio, Cayuga County, New York. I, Philip Gordon, remember my father saying that the family moved in the winter time and they crossed Owasco Lake on the ice, driving their farm aninmals, etc. on foot.
