     He married Mary Jane Boyle, married 1795-96, b. 20-Nov-1780 in Madison County, Kentucky, (daughter of Major John Boyle and Jane Black) d. 01-Aug-1840 in Columbia, Mo.

Moved in 1826 from Kentucky to Missouri. Joined the Sons of the American Revolution. National number 50820. District of Columbia number 1951.

 

     He married Sophia Hawkins, married 1824 in Madison County, Kentucky,2 b. 5-Feb-1805,2 (daughter of Nicholas Hawkins and Ann Robertson) d. 30-Mar-1880 in Columbia, Mo.2

     He married (1) Susan Watson, b. 1842, d. 1864.

 

    

     He married (2) Mary Ann Gentry (Clark), b. Feb-1825, (daughter of Richard Gentry and Ann Hawkins) d. 10-Jan-1893.8

                      i      Marshall Gordon, b. 06-Jan-1869, d. 01-Sep-1932.

 

                             He married Mary Denny, b. 05-Feb-1869, d. 03-Oct-1942.

4.  Wellington Gordon, b. 31-Jan-1834 in Boone County, MO, occupation Lawyer, d. 03 Mar/Apl 1908 in 806 Missouri Ave., Columbia, MO, buried: in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, MO.  11-12 children. 12 names mentioned in various sources. Mattie and Sophia are mentioned only once. Mattie in History of Boone County and Sophia in ?. Wellington and Carey H. Gordon (I) were brothers and law partners in the same firm in Columbia. Remained life long partners until Carey's death in 1905.

 

     He married Laura Amonett (or Ammonette), married 15-Dec-1866 in Memphis, Tennessee, b. 25-Dec-1846 in Louisiana, d. 15-Sep-1907, buried: in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, MO.

 

                             Children:

                      i      Kate Gordon, d. Jan 1947 in Los Angeles.  Raised in Columbia. Eloped to Denver with first husband. Drifted from there to Los Angeles. Was 80+ at time of death.

 

                             She married (1) A. R. Doty.

                             She married (2) ? Shields.

 

                      ii     Dr. Reverdy Johnson Gordon.

 

                             He married Unknown.

 

                      iii    Miles Fleetwood Gordon.  Thought to have always been single. Left Columbia under mysterious circumstanc es. Spent most of his life in New York. Sabra Gordon Pittenger recalls his secretive nighttime burial in Columbia when she was a girl.

                      iv    Ida Root Gordon, b. ABT 1889, d. 1945 in Chicago, Illinois.  Graduate of Christian College. Teacher of elocution (speech) and oratory. Also a reader and an actress. Worked with Maude Adams and was her understudy for Peter Pan.

 

                             She married (1) Arthur Willis Dunlap, b. in Manistee, Michigan, d. 1911.

                             She married (2) Sam Van Binder, d. 1932.

5.  Carey Hawkins Gordon (I), b. 10-Jun-1844 in Boone County, MO, d. 17-Aug-1905.

 

     He married Julia Long, married 24-Oct-1876, b. 1842 in St. Louis county, (daughter of Thomas Lawrence Long and Sallie Post) d. 1932 in Paragould, Arkansas.

 

                             Children:

                      i      Boyle Gordon, b. 17-Aug-1877.  Lived in Pittsburg, ?

                      ii     Edwin Post Gordon (Sr.), b. 30-Mar-1879 in Maple Heights, Boone County, MO, occupation Rural mailman & farmer, d. 14-Dec-1945 in Maple Heights, Boone County,MO,9 buried: 16-Dec-1945 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO.9  Passed away after an extended illness of nearly 13 years, the onset of a nervous breakdown. Died at 12:00 Midnight.

 

                             He married Lillian Ethel Palmer, married 24-Mar-1923 in Rev. R.L. Holliday Residence, Fulton, MO,9 b. 28-May-1896 in Near Columbia, Boone County, MO,9 (daughter of Francis (Frances) Edney Palmer and Stella Jeffries) d. 21-Sep-1973 in Boone County Hospital, Columbia, MO, buried: in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO.

 

                      iii    Clara Gordon.

 

                             She married W.E. Long.

 

                      iv    Sophia Hawkins Gordon, b. 23-Jun-1882, d. 1936 in Columbia, Mo.  Was a fabulous cook, never married.

                      v     Sallie (Sadie) Long Gordon, b. 28-Jan-1884.  Known as Sallie.

 

                             She married L.A. Weaver, married 06-Jun-1912 in Maple Heights, Boone County, MO, d. 01-Oct-1962 in Columbia, Missouri.

 

                      vi    John Boyle Gordon, b. 21-Jul-1886, d. in Maple Heights, Boone County, MO.  Known as JB. Lived in Oaklahoma and Texas.

 

                             He married Maude Ramsey, married 21-Mar-1909.

 

                      vii   Carey Hawkins Gordon (II), b. 07-Mar-1890.  left Columbia and homesteaded in Montana.

 

                             He married Josephine Cernik, married 04-Mar-1914 in Montana.

 

                      viii  Julia Merle Gordon, b. abt 03-Apr-1889.

 

                             She married Judge L.V. Rhine.

 

                      ix    Nicholas McDowell Gordon, d. 02-May-1955 in North Hollywood, CA, buried: in Arlington National Cemetery, Wash. D.C.  Burried in plot 33 overlooking the Patomac in Arlington National Cemetery. He was in the Marines.

 

                             He married Louise Powner, buried: in Arlington National Cemetery, Wash. D.C.
