Descendants of Yossel Gordon, b. February 27, 1871 - Minsk, Belarus
Yossel (Joseph / Yosef) b. Nachman Halevi Gordon, born 27 FEB 1871 in Minsk, Belarus, died 20 DEC 1950 in Herzl Moser Jewish Hospital, 9 Leopold St, Chapeltown, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He was buried 20 DEC 1950 in New Briggate Cemetery, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. I know his parents names (Nachman and Dora) but nothing else about them as it appears they remained in Imperial Russia. Tragically almost the entire Minsk Jewish population was wiped out in the Holocaust so it is unlikely that any living Gordon relations remain in the area.
One of my elderly cousins told me recently that Yossel and his brother left Russia not to escape the pogroms but, rather more prosaically, to avoid conscription into the Imperial Russian Army.
